This baby ball python was recovered from a lawn in Florida by firefighters after a family called 911 saying the snake was badly abused. When the snake was found by the firefighters, its mouth had been sewn shut.
Firefighter Scott Mullin recognized the snake as a baby ball python, a common household pet snake you can get from the pet store, due to its docile nature.
“I thought I’d seen it all, but this is something totally new to me.”
While this may seem cruel, it’s been a common practice amongst snake charmers and people at rattlesnake shows.
After recovering the 14-inch long reptile, Mullin brought it to a friend and together they were able to remove the snake’s stitches and start treatments for a fungal infection in its mouth.
The snake is now safe and well, police are still looking to find the suspect that did this.
